Lessons and training in dressage is available at Jay Stables. Karen Rock has been assisting horse owners since 1994 to produce horse and rider teams that are successful in the dressage ring as well as at home or on the trail. The focus is on the goals of each rider and the talents of each horse. Lessons and training are
designed to work on the needs and desires of the team and not some preset program forced to get riders in the show arena. Happy horses and riders come through slow and methodical methods that are based on classic dressage fundamentals.
Karen has worked with FEI and Olympic trainers for many years as well as continuing to explore other disciplines for ideas that work. With an open mind, we can learn. Karen trained her mare, Diva G, to Prix St George and showed her through 2nd level with the help of Natalie Lamping and others. Following the methods learned, Karen helped many of her students achieve success on their personal horses.
Many of our young horses are now shown in halter at IALHA "A" rated shows. This gets them the show experience and gets them prepared for their future in the show ring under saddle. They are trained and prepared by Karen Rock and expertly handled in the arena by Mario Contreras.
In the next couple of years we will be showing off the talents and the work of the horses and riders in recognised dressage shows. We are looking forward to getting back in the swing of showing and hopefully bringing home many ribbons!
Now entering the show ring as an Amateur handler - John Rock
John has been watching and learning from both Karen Rock and Mario Contreras for the last few years and has now become quite good at handling both the young stock and the proven show horses in Halter and Best Movement classes. He is well on is way to becoming one of the best in the region for exhibiting our Andalusian horses. Many hours of practice and preparation go into a performance and John has been working hard to put his best foot forward.
Heroe Mac Perpetual Trophy for Best Movement at Region 3
Jay Stables would like to announce the best movement award for the winner of the Andalusian / Lusitano Region 3 Best Movement class. At Jay Stables we strive to produce horse with exceptional movement for dressage and other performance events. We believe that this type of class is the cornerstone to the future of the breed. Heroe MAC was often the winnner of this class and we would like to pass on the tradition of awarding his trophy to future generations of spectacular movers. Together we can promote the Andalusian and Lusitano horse as not only beautiful, but functional too!
The trophy was designed and produced in Spain. Bronze Andalusian Stallion Head Study Bronze Sculpture is combined with crystal Amethyst and semiprecious stones for a base. The trophy will be held in house and a plaque will be awarded to the winner. A perpetual commoration plaque will also be on display at the regional show.
